YESTERDAY, TIPPERARY DEFEATED Kilkenny to be crowned All Ireland Hurling Champions for 2016.
And as usual, tons of non-Irish people tuned in and didn’t know what to make of what they were seeing.
“Are there any rules in this?” they wondered as they struggled to make sense of what they were watching.
It’s like hockey and cricket and fencing and UFC all rolled into one!
What is this lawless sport?
In fact, it makes other “dangerous” sports look like a playground game.
People loved the GAA nicknames.
“This man is one of the fiercest athletes and competitors in Ireland.”
“What’s his name?”
“Bubbles.”
Although they were totally perplexed at how the lads didn’t injure themselves more severely.
Where’s their protection???
They must be superhuman.
It wasn’t just the players who raked in the kudos…
The cameramen also earned serious praise.
For those who didn’t have a notion what was going on, they just made the best of it…
Yes, what fine leg musculature.
STICK MURDERBALL!
As for the game being totally amateur? People really didn’t know what to make of that
What about… the money?
One thing that’s for sure? Hurling won a lot of new fans yesterday.
Now who’s going to break it to them that there’s no need to call it ‘Irish hurling’?
