The burning question*: Should you read in bed when your partner doesn't?

Fine, if you’re by yourself but what happens if you have a partner trying to go to sleep beside you? Is it rude to continue to read with the sidelight on? Tell us which of these statements is the better show of manners when it comes to reading in bed:
