REDDIT OFTEN GETS a bad rap, but it recently used its powers for good to lend a hand to a grieving young mother.
Brittinea Campbell’s partner Graham Krauss took his own life on Christmas Eve, making her the sole provider for her 12-year-old daughter and 14-week-old son.
A few days after his death and still in shock, she posted on a Reddit parenting forum about her loss – immediately, offers of help began flooding in.
She set up an Amazon wishlist of essentials, and Redditors started sending her nappies, Sudocrem, clothes and toys.
One user painted up a pram that they weren’t using any more, while another very generous Redditor set up a college fund of $100,000 for the little boy.
A friend has also set up a GoFundMe page for Brittinea, which has raised over $6000 so far. She told local news outlet PA Now that Graham was the sole provider at the time of his death, as Brittnea was off work to look after her newborn.
Writing on Reddit, Brittinea thanked everyone for their help, saying:
This means more to me than anything has before. I’ve never had people be so nice to my family like this, and it truly has brought a ton of happiness to us, which is something we haven’t felt in a while. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
