IT’S ROALD DAHL day and we could not be happier about it. The beloved author would’ve been 100 today.
If you grew up on his books, you’ll know…
1. You were collecting them all before Pokemon existed
No trip to the library was complete without getting a new Roald Dahl book, or re-reading an old favourite.
2. You identified with Matilda so hard
3. And truly believed if you looked at something hard enough, it would levitate
4. This image of the twits beard will haunt you until the end of your days
* Pushes bowl of Cornflakes off the table*
5. The Twits also put you off spaghetti
Remember when Mrs Twit put worms in Mr Twit’s plate? BLEUGH.
The worms didn’t show because everything was covered with tomato sauce and sprinkled with cheese.
6. The illustrations in general were so freaky
Thank you, Quentin Blake.
7. Your attempts at making George’s Marvellous Medicine didn’t go down too well with your parents
You mixed all your mam’s lotions with whatever liquids you found it in the kitchen for days on end.
8. You envied Charlie’s Wonka bars and golden ticket more than you’ll ever envy anything again
Dairy Milks were just never as exciting.
9. But weren’t too keen on the gruesome deaths or unspecific fates of the other children who got to visit
Death by expanding blueberry? No thanks.
10. You’ll never stop wondering what a snozzcumber tastes like
Surely it’s like a cucumber, right?
11. Or how to speak gobblefunk
12. The Witches kinda made you scared of wigs and hotel ballrooms
Do NOT get us started on the movie.
13. But your collection of the timeless classics will never get old
