Police identify mysterious hooded figure stalking German town
POLICE IN THE German town of Rottweil have identified a strange figure who was ‘stalking’ locals dressed in a hooded cloak.
Der Spiegel reported that the man was spotted several times over a ten day period, sometimes near a school campus.
According to local paper New Rottweiler Zeitung the man has now been identified by police, who say he is a 25-year-old ‘computer player’.
Officials have said that they believe the man is a cosplayer, imitating characters from the computer game Assassin’s Creed.
Police had been eager to put a halt to rumours and hysteria that was spreading among students and locals in the town, saying that there was no evidence that the person represented any danger or had committed any crimes.
Police chief Michael Schlussler said that they could not arrest someone for simply walking around in public wearing a costume.
