Is this the world's saddest council Christmas tree?

The tree is so pathetic, locals have started a campaign against it.

RESIDENTS OF A town in the US were so disappointed in their new Christmas tree, they’ve campaigned to have it removed.

The tree in Reading, Pennsylvania has already been branded “pathetic”, “ugly” and “nasty” by locals, MyFox8 reports.

Even local officials have weighed in against the poor tree, which was a last-minute stand-in after the original fell through.

The puny pine was taken from a city park. The city had planned to get its tree from a farm, but the owner wouldn’t let the crews drive on the wet ground when they went to pick it up.

Now a group led by the city council president is raising money to buy and decorate a more impressive replacement. Officials are hoping to have a do-over tree lighting ceremony next weekend.
