A LOCK IN is a uniquely Irish tradition.

Our current representative in Hollywood, Saoirse Ronan, helped break the news to the States that we like to cheat the system here in Ireland.

And we literally can’t stop the good times.

Saoirse appeared on the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon last night and explained everything.

While telling Jimmy about her birthday party, he asked her if ‘being Irish’, the party ended up in a singalong.

Then he said he had a drink with the bar owner when in Ireland, so Saoirse had to explain what happened.

Every gathering we have at home, even if it’s just a group of people getting together on a Sunday and have a drink, it will usually end up with you drinking with the owner of the pub.

The whole idea of a lock in was that you get to drink with the owner of the pub and the guards who are policemen would know about it, but they’re usually in the lock in as well.
