BBC’S WEEKLY live cooking show Saturday Kitchen has amassed an unlikely army of loyal fans who are notoriously protective of the series.
Host James Martin left the show last month and since his exit, different chefs have been filling in each week – today, it was Irish chef Donal Skehan.
Announcing the news earlier this week, he admitted that he was feeling the pressure a bit:
It’s a huge show in the UK and Ireland so there is a lot of pressure, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.
And despite recently angering Italians with a controversial one pot pasta recipe, Donal was accepted with open arms by the fickle Saturday Kitchen viewers.
In fact, many of them want him to host it permanently:
He’s even attracted a celebrity fan in Dermot O’Leary. An excellent sign.
There is no word on when the BBC intends to replace Martin, but we do hope they take all this into account when they do. G’wan Donal!
