A seal has been found in the middle of a field in England
NO, IT’S NOT a typo, a seal has been found lying in a Merseyside field by a passing dog walker.
The seal was said to be in a ‘distressed state’ when it was spotted just after 9.30 this morning, and was contained by Mersey Police and Cheshire Police–the BBC reports.

It is unclear how the seal came to be in the field that is about 17 miles from the nearest coastline, but it’s thought it could have arrived from the estuary of the River Mersey. A rescue operation is currently undergoing, with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue Service on hand to put the mammal into a crate so it can be released into the Mersey.

Steve Marsh from service said the rescue “not an easy job” due to the grey seal’s large size, and potential to be aggressive.
Merseyside farmer owner Gary Watkinson told the Liverpool Echo that he was shocked to learn of the intruder in his field this morning.
