IF EVER THERE was a healthy discovery that most of us can get on board with – it’s seaweed that tastes like bacon.
That’s right, after 15 years of development researchers in the US have patented a form of seaweed that is low in calories, full of protein and – when fried – tastes like bacon.
This mouthwatering concept is called Dulse – a form of edible seaweed that grows wild along the Pacific and Atlantic coastlines.
Described as looking “like a translucent red lettuce”, the researchers at Oregon State University say that the seaweed will be as healthy as hipster favourite Kale, but with an obvious bacon-y taste. Here’s what it looks like:
