Johnny Depp tried to play a Pogues song at Shane MacGowan's wedding and he was having none of it
SHANE MACGOWAN AND Victoria Mary Clarke got married at the weekend. In Copenhagen, no less!
With their relationship spanning 32 years (and their engagement 11), the pair wed in a small ceremony in Copenhagen’s City Hall on Monday among their family and friends – and Johnny Depp.
The actor served as guitarist at the afters, playing a few ditties. However, Clarke told The Ryan Tubridy Show that he actually had a bash at a Pogues classic: ‘Rainy Night In Soho’. Shane was having none of it though!
“He said stop, I don’t want to hear it… But then he did ‘Astral Weeks’ [by Van Morrison] which was absolutely gorgeous,” she said.
She’s also been responding to quips about her potentially changed surname on Twitter: “[It's] Mr and Mrs Clarke!!”
Writing in The Sunday Independent on the eve of the couple’s wedding, Clarke said: “Shane and I are both introverts and we decided that the only solution was to just elope together to someplace that we know nobody and nobody knows us, and keep it a secret. Which is what we have done.
