A SIKH MAN in New Zealand removed his turban to save a boy’s life – and his story is going viral.

Harman Singh used his turban to stem the bleeding of a five-year-old boy who had been hit by a car on his way to school.

Men of the Sikh religion are expected to keep their heads covered by turbans at all times in public.

Speaking to the New Zealand Herald, the 22-year-old said that despite this he didn’t think twice about removing his to help:

I was thinking about the accident and I just thought, “He needs something on his head because he’s bleeding.” That’s my job – to help. And I think anyone else would have done the same as me.

The boy talked to Singh and other members of the public who waited with him until emergency services arrived – he is currently in a stable condition in hospital.

An eyewitness who is also a Sikh said: “I know what type of respect the turban has. People just don’t take it off – people die over it.”
