This single mam dressed up as a 'dad' so her son didn't miss a fathers' day at school

Legend!

SINGLE PARENTS HAVE to be both mother and father to their kids, and that’s what Texas woman Yevette Vasquez did for her son Elijah last week.

Noticing more cars than usual at the school gates one morning, she asked Elijah what was going on – he said there was a ‘Donuts with Dad’ event on that day.

With ten minutes to go until the start of school, she turned the car around, put together a ‘dad’ outfit of a checked shirt, baseball cap and fake moustache, and brought Elijah back for the event.

She posted pictures of the get-up on Facebook, writing:

I wasn’t about to let him miss out… I know seeing other dads with their kids isn’t easy for mine but it’s life, at least I can do whatever it takes to put a smile on that face.

Yevette’s post quickly went viral, amassing over 17,000 likes and messages of support from other single parents who have similar struggles.

Speaking to CNN, she said Elijah was “really excited”, and that she’d do it again in a heartbeat so her sons wouldn’t miss out on a school activity.

Most of the dads thought it was really cool. They thought it was supportive and sweet.
I saw that same, sad look on [Elijah's] face, and I didn’t want that. I wish I would have done it sooner.
