Two absolute strangers met in a college class and realised they were sisters

It’s the story the internet has fallen in love with.

SOMETIMES, RIDICULOUS STORIES fit for movies actually happen in real life.

And so it happened when these two women were both attending Columbia University in the US in 2013 when they realised that they were actually sisters.

Their story is going viral now, and it’s just too cute:

Lizzie Valverde and Katy Olson were both enrolled in the same creative writing course when they got into a conversation on their first day that quickly made them realise they were in fact related – and the US media can’t get enough of their unique story.

The sisters told The New York Times how the chance encounter came to be:

Valverde, who had registered for the class just minutes before it began, introduced herself and told the class, among other things, that she had been adopted as a child and was raising a young daughter of her own. She also disclosed what she described as her goofy obsession with the Olsen twins.

Katy was absolutely stunned - “It looked like she was having a panic attack,” said Lizzie - and the two continued to chat away, quickly realising the situation they found themselves in.

As Business Insider reports, the two were given up for adoption when they were very young, and had no connection with their birth mother for years. Since their story has gone viral, the family have met up often and began to rebuild their relationships.

Turns out, ridiculous coincidences can happen in everyday life.

Yaye, everyone.
