A US news network just paid a visit to Skellig Michael and it was looking well
AS NEARLY EVERY Irish person knows at this stage, Skellig Michael hit international fame last year when it was featured in Star Wars Episode VII.
And since then, tourists have been flocking to the picturesque Kerry island.
So, CBS News sent along a camera crew to see what all the fuss was about
CBS CBS
And yesterday morning they showed their viewers around Skellig Michael – letting them have a first hand look at the views
CBS CBS
Reporter Mark Phillips visited the island and gave a detailed background information on the history and tradition of the Skelligs while getting a tour.
And they came on a rather gorgeous day
CBS CBS
But Phillips acknowledged that the “ever increasing” number of tourists might not be the best thing for the island
CBS CBS
The Irish tour guide that greeted him maintained that the monks were there for 1300 years, so it will be a long while before the Star Wars visitors can overshadow that.
But there’s now millions of new Americans who have just fallen in love with the place
CBS CBS
And given it’s in the next installment too, CBS thinks they’re set to keep coming in their droves.
It’s just too enchanting.
