YOU’VE DEFINITELY SEEN the video of Solange Knowles allegedly attacking Jay Z in the lift of a New York hotel.

Today, the world’s media is rife with speculation as to what could have caused the bust-up. So we’ve rounded up absolutely everything you need (OK, want) to know about it…

• The incident took place in the lift of the Standard Hotel in New York’s fashionable Meatpacking District. Beyoncé, Jay Z and Solange were attending an after-party there on May 5, following the annual Met Gala fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the Upper East Side. (NYDN)
• Solange may have been involved in another angry confrontation earlier in the night. The singer reportedly had a heated argument with fashion designed Rachel Roy, whose clients include Tyra Banks and Michelle Obama. Unnamed ‘sources’ told Page Six that Solange was “like a pressure cooker waiting to explode” earlier in the evening.
• Nobody seems to know exactly why the confrontation between Solange and Jay Z escalated. Us Weekly quotes a source as saying “Solange flipped out over something Jay had said, that she took the wrong way.” But frankly, that could describe almost any argument, ever.

• Jay Z was scared of being kicked in the privates, according to a body language expert who looked at the video. ”“[Jay Z] cowers with his back to the elevator and pulls his arms in and covers his private parts which indicates he is feeling very vulnerable,” Dr Lillian Glass told Hollywood Life.
• Beyoncé and Jay Z left the hotel in separate cars following the incident. A video shows the trio leaving the Standard Hotel where the confrontation was filmed. Beyoncé and Solange smile for photographers and climb into one limo, while a bodyguard appears to usher Jay into another. (Metro)
• Standard Hotel management have said they are “shocked and disappointed” at the leaking of the CCTV footage from the lift to TMZ. ”There was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests,” the hotel told E! News. ”We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”

• Beyoncé and Solange jetted off to Costa Rica together after the incident, reportedly to attend Kelly Rowland’s wedding. There doesn’t seem to have been any sign of Jay Z there. (Us Weekly)
• At some point in the last few days, Solange erased almost all photos of Beyoncé from her Instagram account. She left just one vintage shot of herself and her sister, posted back in 2013. (Radar)
• Meanwhile, Bey posted an odd prayer to her relationships. It asks God to help her “choose my friends wisely so I won’t be led astray” and also give her “strength to separate myself from anyone who is not a good influence.” Users were quick to connect it to the incident in the lift. (Instagram)

• Did Beyoncé storm out on a dinner date with Jay on Sunday night? That’s the (completely unconfirmed) claim a tipster made to Gawker, after the couple went out for pizza in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
• Either way, Beyoncé and Jay Z went a basketball game and acted perfectly normally after the video emerged yesterday. They were pictured talking to each other, giving rise to this immortal Daily Mail caption. But basically they looked totally unruffled.

• One last titbit: Beyoncé may have had a tattoo symbolising her relationship with Jay Z removed from her hand. She got her ring finger inked with ‘IV’ in 2010, to mark their birthdays and wedding anniversary. However, she has recently been pictured wearing a plaster on that hand – and the latest photos appear to show a scar on the finger where the tattoo once was. (Yahoo)
