80S AND 90S kids have lost out on some fine ice creams/pops over the years – cruelly taken away in their prime.
And none of them hurt as much as the loss of the humble Sparkle.
They were simple ice pops, really, but the fans have never forgotten
They came in lemonade, pear, pineapple, orange, cola and strawberry flavours.
But people always remember their favourite
Nothing fancy, just flavour town
And the classic wrappers are pure nostalgia
Half the population called them “Sparklers” instead of Sparkles
Which was a slightly cooler name, in fairness. Price varied depending on your age, but it’s safe to say that Sparkles were at the accessible end of the ice lolly market.
Some people would welcome them back with open arms
Of course, as with any self-respecting ice cream of our childhoods, there is a Facebook page dedicated to bringing them back
It seems to have lost all momentum in the last few years – but that doesn’t mean the public don’t want them back with a bang.
Absolute classics
<3 Sparkles.
