YOU STILL THINK ‘duck face’ is a thing? Wrong. Duck face is dead. ‘T-Rex Hands’ is the Instagram pose du jour.
‘T-Rex Hands’ is the act of placing your hands delicately under your chin or on your hair, (all the better to show off your manicure) and it is all over Instagram like a rash.
Beauty blogger Huda Kattan was the first to notice the phenomenon, singling it out in a list of common Instagram selfie poses.
She calls it ‘T-Rex Hands’, because if you zoomed out of the photo the selfie-taker would probably look just like this.
She says:
Something just looks so elegant about your hand when it’s bent that way. So you can put it on your chin, on your hair… even on your forehead. And it looks good every way.
Since Kattan drew attention to the pose, it’s been noticed EVERYWHERE. Celebrities are particularly bad for it.
