BACK IN MAY, Tallaght woman Tara Matthews bought her son Sean a Chihuahua for his birthday – which he named Mojo.
Sean is ten years old and has autism – and the two have been inseparable ever since.
But last Friday Mojo went missing from their house and there’s been a huge social media campaign to find him
Tara told DailyEdge.ie what happened:
Someone must have opened the door and Mojo just shot out. He’s like a rabbit. It was a couple of hours before we realised he was gone. We always have him on the lead.
I got my sister to drive me around the estate. We got a couple of calls from across Tallaght from people after we put it up on social media.
Someone reported back to Tara that evening that Mojo was spotted with a couple of young boys on the Luas
The woman who spotted them tried to intervene:
A woman saw two young boys on the Luas with Mojo – and she was trying to buy the dog off them in order to save it. She knew they didn’t own it. Then the dog was spotted by a couple of other people saying they saw the boys getting off the Luas at Kylemore.
The family are offering a cash reward for little Mojo’s return
But Tara was keen to stress that if anyone has him that they have other options:
If people are afraid to come forward – I just want to appeal to them that they can bring him to the pound or the vet, no questions asked.
“As a family, we’re missing him every single day”
But most of all, it’s Sean that’s been hit the hardest:
He’s in bits. He’s not sleeping properly and has been so upset. He got the dog for his birthday at the start of May – and he’s been like a little companion ever since.
He’s his only friend. Sometimes when he’s having a bad day, Mojo’s the only one to calm him down.
Any information on Mojo’s whereabouts should be sent to lost@dspca.ie.
