ALL HAIL TERRY’S Chocolate Orange, one of the most indulgent treats you can give yourself.
So beautiful. How could anyone want to harm something that precious? Well, we’re sorry to break it to you, but they have.
The Telegraph reports that the Chocolate Orange has been reduced from 175g to 157g in weight (a 10% cut), but the price remains the same.
A quick look at the Tesco Ireland website reveals the ‘new’ 157g Orange…
…While the 175g product is mysteriously out of stock.
Naturally, there has been consternation – Terry’s fans are mourning the shrinking Chocolate Orange as the latest casualty of this cruel, cruel year of 2016:
Particularly outraged chocolate lovers have set up a Facebook page calling out the manufacturers, US company Mondelez International, for ‘ruining’ the chocolate.
Mondelez International, owners of the Terry’s brand since 2012, have now decided to shrink the 1932 Chocolate Orange from 175g down to 157g. A subtle and obvious trick that they hoped nobody would notice. Well, we noticed and we’re sick of them ruining British chocolate.
The company has yet to respond to the furore. We trust they can explain this satisfactorily…
