This is what the cast of The Mighty Ducks look like now
IF YOU WERE a child in the 90s who didn’t enjoy the privilege of having a Sky box in their home, you’ll be extremely familiar with The Mighty Ducks.
(In all seriousness though, RTÉ played this at least once a week).
The Mighty Ducks follows Gordon Bombay, played by Emilio Esteve, as a successful defense attorney who’s wild behaviour sees him left in the lurch by his peers.
After being charged with drink driving, he’s sentenced to community service - coaching the local “District 5″ PeeWee hockey team.
#SquadGoals, truly.
PLOT TWIST – the team are shite. On top of that, Bombay, former star player for the Hawks growing up, missed a penalty shot during a championship game.
He cost the team the title for the first time ever, and got lack from his coach. Unresolved trauma, love it.
Long story short, Bombay builds them into a stellar team after his boss sponsors them, and they learn loads about teamwork, blah blah blah.
Amazing.
The film is 25 years old this week – so where are our champs now?
Emilio Estevez (Gordon Bombay)
Charlie Sheen’s brother has been keeping a low profile since 2011. Like, really low. We wouldn’t be holding our breath about a reunion, tbh.
Joshua Jackson (Charlie Conway)
Bit of trivia for you – Jake Gyllenhaal was originally touted for this role as the plucky player taken under Bombay’s wing.
Jackson went on to play Pacey Witter in Dawson’s Creek, and Peter Bishop in Fringe. Perhaps his most notable role though, was his appearance in Muppets From Space as ‘Young Man At The Beach’.
He split up with Diane Kruger last year after 10 YEARS TOGETHER. *sobs*
Elden Henson (Fulton Reed)
Fulton was the broody outsider who was made to be a part of the team.
Henson’s had roles since in Daredevil, playing Foggy Nelson, and The Hunger Games series as Pollux.
Aaron Lohr (Dean Portman)
Ok, so technically he didn’t come into The Mighty Ducks until the second film, (imaginatively titled D2), but his current life is too random not to share.
He now works as an addiction counsellor and is now married to Idina Menzel after they starred together in the 200 film remake of the musical Rent.
Shaun Weiss (Greg Goldberg)
Shaun didn’t stray too far from his Disney roots, playing Josh in the movie Heavyweights.
His last film credit is for Drillbit Taylor, in which he played a bus driver.
In August, he was sentenced to 90 days in county jail after being arrested and charged with meth possession.
Brandon Adams (Jesse Hall)
Brandon didn’t get up to much after The Mighty Ducks.
Before he found ‘fame’ there, he was bezzie mates with Michael Jackson, starring in his anthology film Moonwalker.
Marguerite Moreau (Connie Moreau)
Connie, AKA The Velvet Hammer, was doing it for the gals are the independent female player for the Ducks.
Most recently, she’s reprised her role as Katie in the Wet Hot American Summer reboot on Netflix.
Jussie Smollet (Terry Hall)
Jussie played Jesse’s brother (not confusing at all) in the movie.
Nowadays, he can be seen as Jamal in Empire, or as Ricks in Alien: Covenant.
