THE PAVILION MUSIC venue in Cork has announced that it is shutting down.
In posts on its Twitter and Facebook pages, the much-loved bar and nightclub – a fixture on Cork’s nightlife scene for several years – said it would be closing its doors as of today.
Calls to The Pavilion bar and office lines this morning were not answered.
The venue was known for hosting young Irish bands and DJs, as well as bigger names. Kanye West famously made a surprise appearance there in 2009.
The news sparked an immediate reaction on social media, with fans, musicians and other venues expressing their disappointment at the closure.
