If you're to believe the lyrics on his new EP, The Weeknd was going to donate his kidney to Selena Gomez
THE WEEKND DROPPED a surprise six-track EP on Friday, ‘My Dear Melancholy’.
Fresh from his breakups with Bella Hadid and Selena Gomez respectively, people couldn’t get over how sad The Weeknd (‘Abel’ to his mam), sounded on the EP.
Whoops!

Emotional to say the least.
Obviously, there’s a lot being read into the lyrical content of ‘My Dear Melancholy’, due to the high-profile nature of his previous relationships, especially the track Call Out My Name.
He sings: “Guess I was just another pit stop / ’Til you made up your mind”, which could be assumed to be about Selena rekindling her relationship with Justin Bieber.

But it’s the lyrics before that that have gotten the most attention – “I said I didn’t feel nothing, baby but I lied / I almost cut a piece of myself for your life.”
Fans reckon he’s referring to the kidney transplant Selena Gomez underwent.

Her BFF and fellow actress, Francia Raisa, best known for her role as Adrian Lee on the TV series The Secret Life of the American Teenager, donated her kidney to Selena in September last year. Selena and The Weeknd called time on their relationship a month later.
Obviously, neither party has verified whether any of these theories are true. But the internet will continue to speculate regardless.
