8 simple ways to have a cheap night out in Ireland
A STUDY CONDUCTED by One Big Switch, Ireland’s largest consumer network, has found that Ireland is the third most expensive place in Europe to have a night out.
The study found that the average cost of a night out in Ireland is over €112, putting it just behind Luxembourg and Denmark. That cost covers a babysitter, drinks and dinner.
€112.
Well, that just won’t do.
Here are some tips for spending less on a night out.
1. Eating out? Seek out BYOB or BYOW establishments

Many restaurants around the country allow customers to bring their own beverages without charging corkage.
The Vintage Kitchen, Rotana Café and Seagrass are just some of the Dublin restaurants that allow you to bring your own. Similar offers can be found here and here.
2. Always be on the prowl for offers

Whether you avail of deals on Groupon or simply go to restaurants when they’ve got special deals on, there are always bargains to be found. (For example: 777′s daily specials, San Lorenzo’s early bird, etc.)
3. Don’t use your card.

Heading to the pub? Ditch the card. It will only lead to weeping over receipts the next morning.
Withdraw cash and stick to a self-imposed limit. (No, we don’t mean cashback.)
4. Going for a drink? Stop by somewhere with no cover charge

6. Going to da club?

If you’re a club kid, it’s always wise to ‘like’ your club of choice on Facebook. That way you’ll get invited to events and be able to avail of guestlist or cheaplist. Sorted.
7. Stock up on carby food before you go out

Keep some leftovers or stop by Tesco before you head out and avoid queuing for soon-to-be-regretted garlic cheese chips at the end of the night.
8. Always share taxis

Share taxis where possible and save those euros. Think of all the group banter you’ll have with the taxi driver.
(Or if you have a friend/guardian angel who is willing to stay sober and drive you home, ALL THE BETTER. )
