VIDEO: Your weekend movies… Riddick and About Time
WHICH NEW MOVIE release is worth the price of a cinema ticket this weekend?
We’re here to help you decide just that, with these trailers.
Riddick
(Machinima/YouTube)
For fans of: Riddick, men with deep voices
Avoid if: You’re more of a Merchant Ivory fan
Gravel-voiced Riddick (Vin Diesel) is left on a dangerous, roasting hot planet, and as usual people want his head on a plate. But his only way off is to get those exact people (who include Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica!) to come and find him. But being a total badass, we’re fairly sure he will survive.
Ain’t Them Bodies Saints
(moveclipstrailers/YouTube)
For fans of: Romance, soft focus, bokeh
Avoid if: You prefer linear films
Casey Affleck and Rooney Mara play a poor couple who live in the South, and whose lives change when they get caught up in a violent act. This is David Lowery’s second film, and he has obviously taken some inspiration from the likes of Terrence Malick, but it looks like it could stand on its own.
About Time
(movlieclipstrailers/YouTube)
For fans of: The lovely Domnhall and Rachel
Avoid if: You had a bad break-up recently
Hey! It’s Ireland’s own Domhnall Gleeson, playing English chap Tim who falls in love with Mary (Rachel McAdams). Tim’s dad (Bill Nighy) tells him at the age of 21 that the men in their family have the ability to travel through time… so he uses it to get himself a girlfriend. Like all Richard Curtis films, happy and sad times ensue.
