Mark Hamill and many others paid tribute to Carrie Fisher on the anniversary of her death

How has it already been a year?

WE REALLY COULDN’T catch a break in 2016.

We lost a heap of celebrities – Alan Rickman, David Bowie, Prince, Mohamed Ali and Gene Wilder. Everyone just said “Oh, this is just what happens now. All of the celebrities we know and love are really old now, so we just have to get used to them dying.” That simply wasn’t the case in 2017,  however. 2016 was apparently just a cursed year.

On Christmas day, as we all know (and probably will never forget), we lost George Michael. Two days later, we were devastated by the death of Carrie Fisher on the 27th of December 2016. Carrie’s mother Debbie Reynolds died of a stroke the following day.

On the anniversary of Carrie’s death, Mark Hamill led tributes, posting this lovely collage to Instagram.

He captioned it “No one’s ever really gone…” and used the hashtag #CarrieOnForever, which fans also used to share their tributes.

Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd also shared a tribute on Instagram.

The 25-year-old actress traveled to Norway to remember her mother.

She wrote:

My momby had an otherworldly obsession with the northern lights, but I never got to see them with her. We journeyed to northern Norway to see if we might “see the heavens lift up her dark skirts and flash her dazzling privates across [our] unworthy irses.” And she did. I love you times infinity.

Fans also shared tributes to Carrie.
