Former X Factor judge Tulisa issues statement following drug charges

The singer and TV star was first arrested in June after an investigation by The Sun newspaper.

TULISA CONTOSTAVLOS, THE former X Factor judge and N-Dubz singer has been charged with involvement in supplying drugs.

The Crown Prosecution Service in the UK confirmed yesterday that the 25-year-old had been charged “with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs”.

The CPS also said that the charge is related to an investigation by the Sun newspaper which resulted in drugs being supplied to a journalist.

Contostavlas will appear in court on 19 December.

The singer and TV star has released a statement in which she said she will plead not guilty.

The statement, issued via her lawyer Ben Rose also said:

This entire case has been manufactured by the Sunday Sun and Mazher Mahmood, sometimes known as the fake sheikh.
They spend a large amount of their readers’ money in flying Tulisa and a number of her friends first class to Las Vegas. There Mahmood posed as a film producer offering her a £3million film contract
This case is not simply about drug supply. It is about the limits which we set on the conduct of journalists. The media have rightly been criticised in recent years for the gross invasion into the private life of others.
Tulisa is the latest in a long line of people who have been treated as fodder by greedy newspapers. This was a deliberate attempt to target a young woman who is all the more vulnerable because of her celebrity status.

Tulisa posted a series of “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” selfie photos to Instagram yesterday.
