The relatively low-budget fantasy romance saw friends draw lines in the sand over their allegiances to Edward or Jacob respectively.

Among all the hoo-hah surrounding who Bella should spend the rest of her life with though, there was one character that was overlooked throughout – one character who truly always had Bella’s best interests at heart at all times.

Charlie Swan.

Charlie Swan remained the sole voice of reason throughout five movies-worth of nonsense.

Charlie was the only character who copped what a predatory sex pest Edward Cullen was from the off.

And actually, same with Jacob TBH. He constantly made sure she had pepper spray with her – he even gave her a new bottle for prom after Edward ABANDONED BELLA FOR NO REASON.

He put up with Bella running away for three days (again, with no explanation) after he rescued her from the woods when she collapsed.

Imagine having that wreck-the-head as your daughter. The stress. It’s a wonder the man didn’t go into cardiac arrest.

AND ALL HE DOES TO PUNISH HER IS GROUND HER. SHE LITERALLY WENT TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY.

Despite all of this, he supported Bella in her decision to be with Edward, and their marriage, knowing that her mother is against early marriage.

He openly said Renesmée was a cuter child than his own daughter.

Serves her right, the absolute brat.

He was everyone’s dad when giving The Talk.

And to be honest, his comedic timing was much needed throughout the series.

Above all else though, he loved Bella – and not in a weird obsessive vampire way, or as a way to validate his own exist.

WE DID NOT DESERVE HIM.
