NATIONAL TREASURE TWINK is at the centre of one of the big stories in the Sunday papers today:
The Sindo’s Barry Egan has done his best Barry Egan-ing in his extensive coverage of the loss of one of Twink’s beloved dogs.
Teddy Bear, a miniature Yorkshire Terrier has been missing from the family home in Knocklyon since last Thursday.
Egan describes a ‘tsunami of tears’ as he arrived at the house to hear Twink out, and through the course of the interview and the response we have learned so much more about her…
1. She had a dog called Bertie Ahern
As if the loss of Teddy hasn’t been enough, Twink has revealed that another of her dogs, Bertie Ahern, passed away over the summer.
2. She also has dogs called:
JJ McNamara, Peanut Sheridan, Rita Kelly, Mary Agnew and Rosie Kinnitty.
3. She really, really loves animals
Throughout the course of the interview with Egan she refers to Teddy being taken “from them [ie the rest of the dogs] and me”.
She also reveals that Teddy is a rescue dog who came from a “nightmare situation” and has spent five year learning to trust the family.
4. Finding Teddy could reunite her and Linda Martin
Twink has reached out to her old pal Linda to help in tracking Teddy down, despite the pair’s long-running feud.
They’ve been at loggerheads since 2010 when Martin allegedly overheard Twink talking stink about her.
Now Twink has asked for Barry Egan’s help in “extending a hand of animal friendship” to Linda, who is also known for her work with rescue dogs.
5. Twink’s dad taught Linda Martin how to ride a horse
So now.
6. She’s got a way with words
“Crying like two walruses”
7. She’s divisive
Some have greeted Egan’s treatment of Twink’s missing dog with a certain degree of eye-rolling…
Some with humour….
And some with sympathy
