IT WAS ANNOUNCED last night that Richard Attenborough had died. A celebrated actor and filmmaker, you would think that people would know who he was.
Right? Wrong.
Instead, a number of proceeded to mourn Richard Attenborough, narrator of wildlife documentaries. Or, as he is otherwise known, David Attenborough.
It wasn’t just punters who got confused. Even venerable publications got the pair mixed up.
Enter Toronto Star.
The newspaper posted this tweet and included a link to a slideshow of animal selfies, clearly indicating that they thought it was David Attenborough who had passed away.
The error attracted mockery and ire.
They issued a correction.
But the damage was done.
