U2 wrote a special song to bid farewell to TXFM this evening

And it was just played on air for the first time.

TODAY IS TXFM’S last day on air – and it’s been an emotional one for the fans, staff and DJs involved with the station.

And as the final evening on air began, TXFM revealed that U2 had done something special to pay tribute:

The band recorded a little musical goodbye to the station

The lyrics consist simply of:

T.X. FM. THANK YOU, THANK YOU. From U2.

And people were loving it when they played it on air this evening

An emotionally-charged moment for fans of TXFM on its very last day

Of course, the band’s classics often got a run out on the station and they had a good working relationship with the old Phantom 105.2 as well.

A fitting tribute on a sad day.
