IRISH TIMES JOURNALIST, author, presenter and marriage equality campaigner Una Mullally has revealed that she was diagnosed with cancer last month.
In a piece published today the 32-year-old has written about her illness in the context of the upcoming marriage equality referendum, and details her anger and embarrassment at ‘stuttering’ her partner Sarah’s name to a nurse when asked for next of kin details in hospital.
I guess it’s hard to accept yourself when your country doesn’t.
Mullally is currently undergoing aggressive treatment for a large tumour in her stomach, while continuing to campaign tirelessly for a Yes vote, calling it a “good distraction”.
She’s spoken of the “hope, camaraderie, good humour and solidarity” amongst the campaigners and canvassers, and has issued a simple and clear plea and desire for equality.
