VIDEOS: What makes Dublin "Uniquely Dublin"?

Gorgeous videos of what makes Dublin the way it is.

WHAT MAKES DUBLIN Dublin?

A competition was launched earlier this year asking filmmakers, musicians and artists to produce their vision of what makes the city the way it is.

We bring you a small selection of the short films and animations that have been produced as part of Uniquely Dublin.

We took to the streets of Dublin to capture what we feel makes this city one of the best places in the world to live. We took hours and hours of footage and recorded the sounds of the city, and, although it was a typically uneventful January, we could sense an air of positivity.

Uniquely Dublin: City to Sea

The fact that you can get from the city centre to the sea in such a short space of time is one of my favourite things about Dublin. So we took a ‘Dubliner’ version of an old Guinness ad (another one of the best things to come out of Dublin!) -conveying the wit and the craic of the Dubs as well as showcasing some of the most beautiful areas of the city.

Dublin – Strange and Beautiful

The people of Dublin are what makes this city unique and beautiful. They have shaped who i have become the last 7 years since moving to Ireland, and I’ll never look back.

The short list (which will also include samples of written word, photography, graphic design, music and visual arts) will be announced next week. You can check out more entries here.

Senator Ivana Bacik, comedian and author Maeve Higgins and David McWilliams are among the Uniquely Dublin judges who will chose the shortlist. The winner of the €10,000 prize will then by chosen by public vote.
