VIDEO: 500 Gaeltacht students in a giant 'Festival of Colour'

IF YOU’RE OF a certain vintage, this probably isn’t the kind of thing you remember from a summer at a cúrsa samhradh in the Gaeltacht.
These are the scoláirí of Coláiste Lurgan in Connemara, taking part in a giant ‘festival of colour’ with powder paint before diving into the not-quite-so-tropical waters of the Atlantic to dry off.
It’s a far cry from Peig – and, brilliantly, soundtracked by Irish-language re-recordings of some familiar contemporary tunes.
Speaking of which, there’s plenty more popcheol on the Coláiste’s YouTube channel, including this act of 1980s brilliance.
Thanks to Eamonn McManus for the video.
