A handy (and definitive) list of the most memorable moments from last night's VMAs
THE VMAs HAVE provided the public with a host of utterly iconic moments for years now.
Giphy Giphy
We mean, we had the Madonna/Britney/Christina shift back in 2003, Kanye’s ‘Imma let you finish’ moment in 2009 and Nicki Minaj’s ‘What’s good?’ shade in 2015, to name a mere three.
You just never know what way it’s going to go with the VMAs, so when it rolls around every year, the press and public hold their breath for that particular year’s stand-out moments.

Last night, the 35th Video Music Awards were held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and didn’t disappoint.
And here are just a few of the show’s unforgettable moments.
Logic addressing President Trump’s immigration policy
Alongside One Republic’s Ryan Tedder, Logic performed One Day, but all eyes were on the youngsters surrounding them.
Clutching candles and dressed in T-shirts emblazoned with the words ‘We Are All Human Beings’, they sent a message which resonated with millions.
Oh, and in case it wasn’t entirely clear, Logic wore a shirt that read ‘F*ck The Wall’.
Alex Rodriquez’s reaction to Jennifer Lopez’s performance
After almost two decades in the industry, Jennifer Lopez was awarded the Video Vanguard Award. About time, says you.
But for anyone unsure as to whether she deserved it or not, JLO then performed a medley of her biggest bangers, and Christ on a bike, we weren’t worthy.
The cherry on top was her boyfriend Alex Rodriquez’s reaction to the performance.
Madonna’s tribute to Aretha Franklin
As tributes go, this one fell a little short of the mark.
Chris Pizzello Chris Pizzello
And why’s that? Well, Madonna appeared to be under the impression that to deliver a tribute you needed to talk about yourself, not your subject.
And Twitter wasn’t having it.
Cardi B faking out the audience
For a few surreal moments last night, viewers thought Cardi B’s baby, Kulture, had actually made her VMA debut at just eight weeks old.
Arriving on stage to introduce Shawn Mendes, Cardi cradled what millions thought was a baba in swaddling.
But it wasn’t. It was only the damn Moon Man statue.

The Hills made a highly-anticipated comeback
For the past week, rumours abound that MTV’s iconic reality TV show, The Hills, would somehow make a splash at the 2018 VMAs.
There was talk of a reunion and whispers of a big announcement, and the crew didn’t disappoint.
After Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado, Justin Bobby Brescia and Stephanie Pratt rocked up on the red carpet, a teaser for the show’s reboot – The Hills: New Beginnings – aired during the commercial break.
Be still our beating hearts.
