RALPH FIENNES WAS one of the guests on the Graham Norton Show last night, along with Tracey Ullman and James Nesbitt.
And although Fiennes has been in a rake of Oscar winning films and everything besides, for a whole generation of people he remains as one character in their hearts:
He who shall not be named
And when he was chatting away to Graham last night, he revealed an anecdote from the set of Harry Potter that confirmed to him that he was pulling off the character very well:
The script supervisor’s little son was knocking around the set back in the day:
I passed by this little child and just looked at this boy and he just burst into tears.
Burst. Into. Tears.
Ralph was rather delighted with the reaction, and cherished the fact that his Voldemort had such an impact.
At least the little lad’s mam was on hand to comfort him.
Graham followed this story up with: “The costume must have helped as well, because it’s quite frightening?”
It was just a lot of flowing, silky stuff that I kept tripping over.
So many Harry Potter truths in one night.
The fact that he scared the poor little boy was the true sign of success as the character
Some people couldn’t even watch
He’ll always be Voldemort.
