A PARODY FACEBOOK account set up in response to a ‘Waterford Against Roma’ page is hitting all the right spots.
Waterford Against Romans has taken the premise of this page (which has now been removed)…
… and has turned it into this with the help of Photoshop:
The original Waterford Against Roma page came under fierce criticism after it appeared online, but not before picking up a few thousand likes.
It was mentioned by Senator Fiach McConghail in the Seanad this week as part of a private members’ motion on tackling racism and promoting diversity.
The motion called for the establishment of a centralised database for recording racist incidents.
The senators lost the vote on their motion, but McConghail tweeted:
It is on the government’s agenda now and they have promised to report to Seanad at a later stage.
The Waterford Against Roma page also came in for some tongue-in-cheek ribbing from people claiming to be disappointed that it wasn’t referring to a football match between Waterford and Roma.
