Childhood sweethearts James Barry and Orla Gallagher have been together for 13 years – and last weekend, James went all out to pop the question.
It began on Sunday morning when sand artist Sean Corcoran drew the words ‘ORLA WILL YOU MARRY ME?’ in a massive heart on the sands of Stradbally Cove, Co Waterford.

But that wasn’t all – as James lead Orla to the beach through the rain, the City of Waterford Brass band began marching around the heart, playing Gilbert O’Sullivan’s Matrimony.

A photographer was on hand to capture the moment Orla glimpsed the spectacle for the first time – and happily, she said yes.

The proposal took four weeks to plan, and was very nearly derailed as James “just got her up the pathway without seeing the writing”. Phew.
Ah, ROMANCE. Congrats to the happy couple!
