THE REG PUB in Waterford have had an emotional rollercoaster of a month.
An “expensive and sentimental” rug went missing from the pub floor in February, much to the dismay of all the locals and barstaff.
In an attempt to get it back, The Reg then took to Facebook with some CCTV footage of the people alleged to have slid out of the pub holding the carpet
Intriguing.
We’ve seen in the past that pub carpets are a surprisingly in demand item, so The Reg was prepared when they posted the above image to Facebook (which has since been deleted).
A month passed with no activity, but last night there was a break in the investigation.
It appears that the culprits have called The Reg and offered to return the carpet
Posting to Facebook last night, The Reg thanked local radio station Beat for all their help in this important recovery:
Thanks to you and Beat 102 103 for spreading the word, our rug will be returned in the next couple of days.
So, it looks like this Waterford pub saga is close to being put to bed once and for all.
We’ll need to see the rug returned to its rightful floor before we declare this case closed, though.
