The heartwarming moment a Wexford family was reunited with their stolen dog after six months

An unlikely tale.

IT WAS ONLY last Friday that the Dublin SPCA’s Facebook page was buzzing – following a one-week-old hare being found and saved outside Dublin Airport.

And today they’ve gone viral again, with the most unlikely reunion.

“This is Coco the Bichon Frise meeting her family again after six months.”

The DSPCA then tell the story of how and when Coco was taken:

Coco was stolen from the family home in Co Wexford in October 2016 and had not been seen since.
Last Thursday we took a call from a member of the public to say a little dog was loose on the road in an estate in Tallaght D24 and that it looked in a bad way.

The heartbreaking story of neglect was only saved by the fact that Coco is microchipped:

When our inspector found Coco she was neglected. She was terrified, dirty, matted, and had very sore skin but when he got her back to the shelter he scanned her and realised she was microchipped.

And it’s Coco’s excited reaction to meeting her family again that has made the video go viral this afternoon

They were overjoyed to see her again:

Cocos family couldn’t believe it when they received the phone call to say she had been found and as you can see Coco looks pretty pleased to see them too. (watch the moment she realises who they are!)

And there’s one key lesson in all of this:

Once again we see the importance of having our pet’s microchipped and registered, If Coco’s family had not done this they would probably never have seen her again!

A happy ending for Coco and all involved.
