What exactly does this road sign mean?
A FEW TIMES a day, TheJournal.ie is asked a question by a reader. Normally, given our collective brainpower (and access to Google), we can come up with an answer.
However, we are well and truly flummoxed on this one.
Reader Stephen Doherty says that he was on a trip to Kerry at the weekend when he spotted these signs:
He and his friends cannot, for the life of them, figure out what the signs point to.
“We’ve been all over trying to find out what they mean. So far we know that it’s on a brown background so it’s a tourist or heritage sign, the N and S are probably directions and the blue with the line probably mean water.
“It’s not an official RSA sign post and we’ve done the rounds on FB and Twitter – help!”
Putting it to the office here, such answers as “bumpy road”, “dominoes”, “a collapsible bridge” and “twirly pasta” came back.
So, we’re putting it over to you, our readers.
Have you any idea what these signs mean? Let us know in the comments.
