The sculpture, by artist Eilis O’Connell, is still under construction. But some passers-by have already noticed a certain similarity to a giant, well, sex toy.

It’s also reached student website Oxygen.ie, which has this self-explanatory headline:

Let’s compare, shall we? Here’s the sculpture side by side with a sex toy available on LoveHoney.co.uk (link NSFW):

Speaking at the time of the sculpture’s launch, Eilis O’Connell said the sculpture commemorated former Trinity professor Ernest Walton, a Nobel laureate.

She said:

A man is not only defined by his academic achievements but also by the memories he leaves behind in others
