This Irish granddad could become a famous artist if an internet campaign succeeds

MEET 77-YEAR-OLD Liam Gallagher.

Mr Gallagher is the Irish grandfather of London-based artist Scottee. He can’t read, or write, or leave his council house for very long. But the pair have had a close relationship ever since Scottee was a kid.

Granddad is now 77 years old and I continue to listen to the same jokes, read his post and hold his hand on short walks to the chemist to collect his weekly dose of 122 tablets.

However, there’s a problem. Society ignores Mr Gallagher, writes Scottee:

When I walk around with Granddad the public pretend he is invisible. People push past him on the bus and he is ignored when he tries to strike up conversation. Society is obsessed with youth.

So he has launched an online campaign to turn Liam Gallagher (77) into a famous artist. Scottee is asking for donations on his WeFund page to buy equipment and send Mr Gallagher on a world tour.

“Granddad thinks this project is a good idea,” Scottee writes. “He thinks it’ll be fun to ‘act the goat’ whilst spending time with his first born grandchild.”

Scottee and Mr Gallagher are trying to crowdfund their budget of £5,800. If they raise it they plan to create a concept album, photo and video works, installation and a gallery show.

But there is one stipulation.

[Mr Gallagher] would like to stress that some of the money will have to be spent on lemonade. M&S Lemonade is his favourite.
