17 Banksy works up for auction
SEVENTEEN BANKSY WORKS are to go under the hammer at Bonhams auction house in London this week. It is the first time that some of the art work has been up for auction, with many pieces fetching some serious pre-sale estimations.
‘Leopard and Barcode” by the celebrated graffiti artist, has attracted a pre- sale estimate of £60,000 – £80,000.
Other pieces of Banksy work on sale is ‘Girl and Balloon’ (estimated £15,000-£25,000) and ‘Bomb Hugger’ (estimated £40,000- £60,000). An Andy Warhol style screen print of British supermodel Kate Moss, which was produced in 2005, is estimated to sell for £30,000 – £50,000.
Bonhams in London is to hold the auction on March 29 in their New Bond Street premises.
Alan Montgomery, Urban Art Specialist at Bonhams said that interest in Banksy’s work is still very popular. “It seems that the public just can’t get enough of him, and his continued anonymity, even following last year’s Oscar Nomination, only adds to his enigma”.
