You have to watch Jimmy Fallon and The Roots' awesome cover of U2's Desire

“Desi-i-i-i-yah”

LAST NIGHT, U2 were scheduled to start a week-long residency on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to support the release of their latest album.

The band had to pull out, however, after Bono injured his arm in a bike accident in Central Park.

A statement issued by the band read:

It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time – we’re one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it. We’re sure he’ll make a full recovery soon, so we’ll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding.

So, what did Jimmy Fallon do? Hire a replacement band? Let ‘U2 Week’ pass without mention?

No way. Instead, he enlisted The Roots to accompany him on a pretty awesome of U2′s Desire. He even donned a Bono-esque pair of shades.

Watch for yourself below.
