WITH NEW YEAR comes resolutions.
One of the most common resolutions is to give up smoking and it seems that many of you are in the middle of doing just that.
Quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health and massively reduces your risks of contracting a whole range of life-threatening diseases, including cancer.
The HSE outlines the numerous health benefits associated with the cessation of smoking on its QUIT website, a resource for those trying to quit.
- Within 2 or 3 months your lung capacity can increase by up to 30%.
- Within 1 year your chance of heart attack drops by half and within 10 years the risk drops to almost the same as a non-smoker.
- Within 5 years the risk of smoking related cancers will be greatly reduced.
Aside from that, there are also a number of other lifestyle benefits that come with banning cigarettes.
Like…
1. No more coughing/hacking up phlegm
Think of how pretty your lungs will be!
2. You’ll save so much money!
“Thanks!” – your bank account
3. Your hangovers won’t be nearly as bad
Everyone knows that the headache endured after a night of smoking and drinking is pretty much on par with willingly placing your head between a pair of cymbals in terms of pain.
And really, why would you inflict that on yourself?
4. Your scent will improve immeasurably
No more smelling like a stale cigarette butt.
5. Food will taste much better
Dat chocolate, tho.
6. No more of this nonsense
7. Or this
8. No more enduring Baltic smoking areas
Instead, you can live it up in the snug all night long.
SNUG LIFE.
9. Best of all, though, you’ll feel like a champion
And that feeling of conquering your ultimate vice will be better than any cigarette.
