3D printing, the African middle class, and bamboo houses: things to watch in 2011
JWT INTELLIGENCE is usually fairly on-the-ball when it comes to making predictions about what will become a big trend in the coming twelve months, so its annual ‘Things to watch’ slideshow is usually – in itself – something to watch.
Last year, for example, JWT (no relation to the holiday tour operator) named Foursquare, coconut water and mobile payment systems as being likely hot topics for 2010, and has been proven right in all of them.
This year, the projected trends are perhaps a little more off-the-wall – or at least, that’s how they might seem now. We’ll make a point of checking back here on January 1, 2012 to see how well they’re done this year.
(Anecdotally, we can say that we’ve seen 3D printing in action, and it’s pretty nifty.)

More details on JWT’s predictions can be found at its website.
