5 things to expect from Apple in 2011
FOR THE APPLE fanboys out there, we’ve taken a look at some of the more interesting iThings you can expect to see in 2011.
Mac App Store
A streamlined app-purchase, download and update model for Mac OS X applications is scheduled to launch on 6 January, 2011.
It will be compatible with both Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
iPad 2
It has been reported that Apple may be scheduling the launch of the iPad2 for April. Rumours about what features the iPad2 might have include a smaller screen, new screen resolution, and FaceTime video calling software.
iPhone 5
TechRadar predicts that Apple will launch the iPhone5 in July, and that the new phone will have tackled that sticky antennae problem.
Rumours that the phone will begin to become available on an increasing number of networks also abound – but this applies to the US only.
iTunes streaming
Another rumour that isn’t going anywhere is that Apple will create a streaming service for iTunes – possibly one that would enable a user to stream their own collection to a device.
Mac OS X 10.7
Apple unveiled the upcoming Mac OS x 10.7 (Lion) last October. It is expected to include the iOS homescreen-style Launchpad, full-screen apps, auto-save and auto-resume, auto-hiding scrollbars, and more fully utilises multitouch gestures, such as laptop trackpads.
