THE CHARMING HIT series 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy has made its way to the states… with a bit of a title tweak.
The show sees Dublin TV presenter Baz Ashmawy attempt to frighten his 71-year-0ld mother to death through a variety of activities… Sky diving, extreme roller coasters, crocodile wrestling and tattoos to name but a few.
The first episode aired on Discovery Life this week, with a new US voice-over and some ‘essential’ subtitles.
What did they make of it?
Tweets about the show were thin on the ground, but positive.
Others were confused:
The show has been described in various reviews and previews as:
[Discovery Life's] most promising programme.
50 Ways to Kill Your Mother is actually a lovely portrait of a mother and son who appear to genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
…part travel, part endearing relationship, part oddball adventure show
50 Ways originally aired on Sky One on this side of the Atlantic, and now Ashmawy has landed his own Sky One gameshow called the fanatics.
Meanwhile Baz and Nancy’s antics have also been picked up for broadcast in Israel, France, Poland, Canada and New Zealand. The pair are also in talks about a second season.
