This 77-year-old Dublin woman was the hero of Prime Time's Budget debate last night

“He hasn’t actually told me anything I don’t know”

RTÉ PRIME TIME’S Budget Special last night featured some in-depth analysis on the day’s events and a memorable row between a couple of politicians.

But for many watching there was only one winner.

And that was 77-year-old Dub Ellen

In a straight-talking cameo from the audience, Ellen stole the show:

If you haven’t got dementia or Alzheimer’s or your bits are falling off – you just don’t exist.
Like you said about the prescription charges… there will be no reduction on my tablets. I just have the shit that goes with being 77.

Other notable lines included:

“It could have been funny if it wasn’t so tragic”

“Suddenly we are very important people – we are the grey vote. And all for a fiver”

Honest and to the point, she was an instant hit with viewers

They came to her twice in the audience, and both times she didn’t hold back one bit

People were begging for her to get more air time

When the analyst explained some of the numbers to her, she replied:

“He hasn’t actually told me anything I don’t know”

Well played.
